The Science of Reading isn’t a takedown of Balanced Literacy—it’s a lens that sharpens it. At The Green School, we blend research-backed skills like phonics with the joy of rich literature and student choice. Reading shouldn’t be mechanical or ideological—it should be meaningful. Our goal? Confident, capable readers who not only decode words, but love them.
